Zap the zit
These days I’m not prone to pimples or breakouts, so when I was asked to review a new product on the market that is said to reduce redness in blemishes I wondered who I would offer this product to for trial.
It’s like offering someone a diet product for review – are you subliminally saying that the person needs to use it? It’s a difficult situation to be in and I remember a few years ago being sent a large range of hair removal products for review. Hmmmm had they seen me and thought I had a problem? I don’t think I do, but maybe they thought I did!
While I was pondering this dilemma I had found myself in, a pimple appeared! Right dead smack in the middle of my décolletage! Problem solved as to who was going to trial this product, but aaarrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh – a pimple!
I didn’t wait for ‘overnight’ to trial it (as recommended on the pack) I cleansed the affected area and applied the product immediately!
Dream Dots has had recent success in the UK beauty market and among celebrities such as former Miss World, Rosanna Davison.
Launching in Australia this year, the innovative medical device acts as an absorbent overnight patch treatment, designed to calm and treat unwanted breakouts. It is 100% waterproof, breathable, bio-compatible and suitable for all skin types.
When Dream Dots come in contact with the blemish, it absorbs the spot fluid. A moist healing environment is formed beneath the patch, maintaining ideal pH balance, temperature and hydration level while sealing in repair factors, leading to the skin healing 50% quicker. The patch swells and turns white overnight, resulting in a visible reduction in redness and inflammation when removed in the morning.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approved product has been modelled on devices used in hospitals for severe burns and wounds, so that it doesn’t dry out or scar the blemish or the skin around it. Dream Dots is drug free, paraben free, latex free and has no harsh ingredients. It can be used as an add-on with any skincare routine or even worn underneath make up.
The product sounded a bit too good to be true, but given the fact that it is one hassle-free application and that I was now the proud owner of what I felt like ‘Mount Vesuvius’ right in the middle of my chest, I was hoping it would live up to its reputation.
Upon application of the Dream Dot I was instantly happy. Not only did the dot completely cover and hide my pimple, the dot itself was close enough to invisible. I struggled to see it in the mirror, even with my glasses on. I wore it that night and sat across the table from two people who didn’t notice the dot at all. One of them probably wouldn’t have said anything if he did notice it, but the other most definitely would have.
Overnight the patch did become opaque in colour, but this didn’t happen for at least 6 hours – and even when opaque it wasn’t very easy to see. It peeled off easily leaving behind a slightly paler patch of skin – very similar to what your skin is like if you take off a wet Band-Aid.
What was originally a quite large pimple had diminished to a flat and very pale pink spot, barely noticeable at all.
My experience with Dream Dots has been extremely positive and while I am not prone to breakouts, this product is something I would keep in my bathroom cabinet for the time a zit takes me by surprise.
Dream Dots is available at Terry White and national pharmacy retail outlets.
