Wipe it away

I thought it was about time I wrote something about the Nivea Double Effect eye makeup remover for those who haven’t already given it a try. After the huge marketing campaign this product has had, I can’t imagine those who were in the market for a makeup remover wouldn’t have tried it as yet, but for the odd one or two who hasn’t.
The ‘double effect’ comes from a two phase formula, oil and water. The intention is that the oil phase will remove the eye makeup and the water phase will condition your eyelashes and make sure there is no oily residue.
Does it work? Yes!
You simply shake the bottle, squirt a small amount onto a cotton pad and gently press into your eye makeup area and wipe away. The product is fragrance free and quickly dissolves every trace of makeup, even stubborn waterproof mascara. However, it is not as simple as shown in the advertisements. One wipe is not enough, I found three or four wipes were generally necessary, not that this is a problem, it is just a little different to how it is portrayed.
While the product is formulated and tested for the sensitive eye area and said to be suitable for contact wearers, I found that the first time I used it I felt the tiniest bit of stinging. Even though I was suffering with slight irritation in my eyes due to hayfever, it made me a little apprehensive to use the product again. I tried again the next day and have continued doing so ever since with no further irritation. This may be something you want to keep in mind if you often suffer with allergies or irritations.
Overall, I find this to be a wonderful product and one I would recommend for most people.
