VASSY heads back to Australia with ‘Nothing To Lose’

DARWIN, AUSTRALIA: Hot on the heels of reaching No. 1 on various US charts with her latest release, Nothing To Lose, Australian singing sensation VASSY has returned home to Australia to promote her runaway smash hit locally.

Back home in Darwin, where the singer, songwriter and producer was born and raised, VASSY told Prodijee that Nothing To Lose signalled a new approach and was written for anyone who had ever had a dream of making it to the top.

“I wanted to do something different to the last song that we (VASSY and co-producer Tiësto) had together and that the fans were familiar with. I wanted to make this song more about working hard – a bluegrass feel about starting from the bottom and reaching the top. It is just something that a lot of people can relate to – working hard and not giving up, and that you’ve got nothing to lose so you might as well give it a shot.”

The song has not only hit No.1 on the Billboard Dance Club charts, it has been No. 1 on US Dance Radio, in the Top 10 of the Billboard Dance/Mix show charts, and has more than 6 million streams.

Nothing to Lose may have marked her first No. 1 solo dance record, but her success is no coincidence. VASSY’s catchy lyrics and distinctive vocals have been featured in campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, Target, Sketchers, Nike, and Pepsi, while her captivating sound has fuelled some of the most timeless smash hits in electronic dance music.

VASSY told Prodijee that while her music crosses many genres, her song-writing and performing have not been influenced by any particular artist.

“I don’t know what my influence is, I just like to make songs. Depending on the song, I just kind of go where the song is really. No one has really influenced the music (I do now) but growing up I was inspired by Billie Holiday in terms of a vocalist. But no, I’m not really influenced by any particular artist, I just like all styles of music from pop to dance to Indie music.”
