Is this the world’s most expensive tart?

London, UK: Baker to the stars, Georgia Green, has developed what could well be the world’s most expensive Christmas tart – the Rudolph The Ruby-Nosed Reindeer Tart.

At £475 per tart (subject to individual ruby values), the Christmas treats aren’t for everyone and while they are no doubt delicious, the high price is due to a very unusual ingredient – a 7.1ct cut, polished and heat treated ruby. The price for 6 tarts is £2700, excluding delivery. A donation of 10 per cent of each purchase will be made to The Prince’s Trust.

The tarts are being offered through luxury launches website VeryFirstTo.com – International orders subject to additional courier charges and the specific country’s food import regulations and orders must be placed prior to December 18. UK orders must be placed before December 21.

“These gorgeous tasting and magnificent looking tarts will be certain to add cheer to any Christmas dinner as well as greatly enhancing the table setting. I doubt Rudolph’s nose has ever looked quite so shiny,” said Marcel Knobil, founder of VeryFirstTo, Suberbrands and Cool Brand Leaders.

Each ruby, which is ethically sourced from Sri Lanka, sits proudly upon a delicious macaron atop a chocolate ganache sweet pastry tart laden with a hidden filling of salted caramel. The antlers are made with caramel that has been piped by Georgia into sculpted form.

“I have been asked to bake some unusual tarts in my time – but nothing quite as remarkable as this. Whilst I’m sure the ruby will be remembered, I trust that the wonderful blend of ingredients will also leave a long-lasting impression on the palate,” said Georgia Green, founder of Georgia’s Cakes.

Having trained at the world famous culinary school Le Cordon Bleu, Georgia has the ability and creativity to produce high quality cakes, desserts and patisserie goods that taste just as delicious as they look.

Georgia created a bespoke cake for Cara Delevingne to mark the launch of her collection for DKNY in October 2014. She has baked for episodes of Made In Chelsea as well as Comic Relief, is currently making gingerbread men for the release of Magic Mike, and is also responsible for the Most Precious Gingerbread House, also available through VeryFirstTo.
