The Duck flies again

Melbourne, Australia: Prahran’s historic Flying Duck Hotel takes flight again – with new owners, a new look and a coveted new chef Javier Perez Gonzalez who is creating waves in the culinary industry.
Tucked away in Prahran’s quiet Bendigo Street, the new look venue has retained the local pub vibe and fused it with contemporary dining and exceptional interiors that has neighbours raising their glasses in celebration.
The venue sports a local’s bar, a ladies cocktail lounge, glasshouse restaurant and historic beer garden, as well as the Duck Room for private dining, and is quickly becoming a venue Melburnians are flocking to.
The very talented Javier, in collaboration with owner/dietitian, Karen Inge, showcases a menu including traditional pub classics and authentic modern Australian cuisine with a touch of Spanish flair. The samples we tasted at the launch party were a delicious credit to the cuisine team.
In a bid to prevent the building from demolition to make room for six storey high apartments, renowned property group Zig Inge Group, took ownership of the historic hotel and restored it to all its traditional glory. The venue is the home of exquisitely designed interiors with a mellow ambience and beautiful industrial lighting that showcases the exposed brick interior.
Idyllic for a balmy summer night and cosy for a winter afternoon indoors, the reborn Flying Duck Hotel is fast becoming a favourite on the scene.
