Sounds of PlanetSOL is an uplifting and exhilarating musical adventure about feeling, connection and the power of music that will be showing at The Butterfly Club – Carson Place, Melbourne – Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 and Saturday 16 January 2016.
Audiences are invited to sing along as Charlotte guides them to their emotional depths and then out the other side in a fit of laughter. She gently guides them through a lyrical landscape as she introduces the musical medicine of her alter-ego, Dr. Lala Lulu.
Sounds of PlanetSOL (Smile Out Loud) is the story of a free spirit who has had to come to terms with her own self destructive behaviour, and liberated her SOL through music, this is a musical journey from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Charlotte tells her story through song, spoken word and movement and includes 10 original songs, some of which are improvised. She performs with her guitar and loop pedal.
Sounds from PlanetSOL has been written by Charlotte Roberts and directed by Suze Smith and was part of the La Mama Explorations 2014 before going onto a full season at La Mama Theatre in 2015.
Charlotte Roberts is a chanteuse; vulnerable and wild, walking in the footsteps of Edith Piaf, Rhiannon (WeBe3), Laurie Anderson? and Meredith Monk.
She performed at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Club Voltaire 2013, Dr. Lalalulu… Is coming out, had a residency at Open Studio, September 2015, performed at The Village Festival, Edinburgh Gardens; facilitates The Lalalulu Ensemble community choir. She will perform at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, 2016.
