The 2015 team runs with Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado as its race drivers, with reigning GP2 Series champion Jolyon Palmer Third and Reserve Driver and team newcomer, Carmen Jordà, as a Development Driver. Her position within the Lotus team has her behind the wheel of the E23 Hybrid.
Carmen, daughter of former racer José Miguel Jordá, has a distinguished racing career having participated in the European Open Formula 3 Championship – where she achieved three podiums – along with the American Indy Lights Championship and most recently the GP3 Series.
Her first contact with professional competition was during the Valencian Community’s Championship in 2001, when she was 12 years old. Carmen achieved third position in the Championship and one year later, seventh in the Spanish National Championship. Her perseverance and determination already foretold the future that was awaiting her.
After four years competing in karting whilst living in the United Kingdom, Carmen began competing in the European Formula 3 Open series category and achieved three podium finishes.
In 2010 Carmen moved to the USA to compete in the American Indy Lights Championship for the Andersen Racing 1 team.

In early 2012, when she got the opportunity to sign with the Ocean Racing Technology team in the F1 feeder category GP3 Series, she decided to go back to Europe. She became the first women to sustain this level for 3 years in a row.
It has been a dream of Carmen’s to join the Lotus F1 Team and says “it is a big step towards my goal.
“I will be working to improve myself as a driver as well as helping the team to develop the car by testing new developments in the simulator; it’s such a fantastic opportunity. I know this is just the beginning and the biggest challenge is yet to come but already being part of a team with such a history is a real honour. This is a great achievement, but an even greater opportunity which will lead to bigger and better things.”
Carmen is an inspiration to motorsport fans, aspiring drivers and for every woman who is competing for a professional seat in motorsport or other sporting discipline as she continues the fight to achieve her own goals.
In addition to her driving expertise, Spanish born Carmen is regularly found in the gym keeping fit and on the red carpet at glamorous events often in front of a TV camera presenting.
