Australian gamer back in Australia before beginning professional racing career
Melbourne, Australia: Australian Matt Simmons has returned down under to pack his bags before beginning his new life as a professional racing driver for Nissan and NISMO.
Simmons won the GT Academy International competition at Silverstone, UK, last week, beating gamers from the United States, Turkey, North Africa and Mexico to the life-changing prize.
Simmons, who worked as a courier driver for Australia Post before his GT Academy success, visited the Nissan Motorsport V8 Supercar team workshop in Melbourne this week before heading back to his home in Brisbane. Simmons will jet back to the UK later this month to begin the intense Nissan Driver Development Program to prepare him for life as a NISMO Athlete.
He will compete in a number of races in the UK before taking on his first international event – the 24 Hours of Dubai on 15-16 January 2016.
