This week I had the opportunity to speak with photographer Ben Sabo from Hungary. I’ve also had the pleasure of shooting with him on several occasions, he really is an absolute delight and a truly incredible talent.
SO BEN, WHEN DID YOU DEVELOP A PASSION FOR PHOTOGRAPHY?
I fell in love with photography when I was around 14 years old. My art class teacher showed me some of his photography work and I learned how to use a manual camera how to develop a picture in the dark room. It was fantastic to have the freedom to experiment.
I continued with my photography through school and beyond; I started to take photos of friends, friends of friends. I then developed an interest in the male form and in fashion photography.
WHEN DID YOU FEEL YOU REACHED A SUCCESSFUL LEVEL WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY?
My first taste of success was after shooting a male model whose representation loved my work and had me shoot the majority of the models on their books.
WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND TO BE THE MOST EXCITING THING YOU’VE DONE SO FAR?
Well, in 2015 I met an American photographer and model agent named Sam Scott Schiavo and we become fast friends. I began to shoot some of the models at his agency and my success rose rapidly.
I have garnered my first printed editorial in Yearbook – Issue 9 and since have had countless printed and online web-editorial all over the globe.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE FOR THE FUTURE?
For the future I hope to create a vast array of interesting pictures and truly make a voice for the things that I am interested and passionate about.
